As a public, comprehensive community college, Germanna provides accessible, high quality educational and workforce training opportunities, with intentional focus on high school students, women, people of color, and other underrepresented citizens in the community.

GCC has been able to provide tuition costs for those underrepresented populations taking courses in the IT/Cybersecurity pathway, as well as assisting military personnel to transition to civilian life. Owing to the need for Heavy Equipment Operators (HEO) in the community, a portion of the William R. Kenan Charitable Trust grant was used to purchase a Heavy Equipment simulator to provide high school student and adult HEO training at the local high school. The Trust also provided funding for Germanna to offer bootcamps for high school teachers to become certified in information technology courses.

Germanna relies on and contributes to partnerships with IT and construction companies, local school districts, and military installations. With funding from the Kenan Trust, and its expanded ability to further its mission, Germanna is expanding the breadth of educational and employment opportunities that are available in the region.
